Thatcham Town Council at 50: Meeting of the Mayors – Thatcham Town Council

On Tuesday 28th May 2024, exactly 50 years following the Local Government Act 1974, Thatcham Town Council and Thatcham Mayor Councillor Suzanne Adamantos are inviting all surviving Mayors of Thatcham to gather together to celebrate the anniversary.
The Local Government Act 1974 enabled Thatcham parish council to apply to become a Town, and in turn, to vote for a Mayor. Since 1974 there have been 36 mayors, with 14 serving for multiple years, and 12 female Mayors, including the very first Mayor Councillor P Davis.
We are delighted to be welcoming 12 Mayors to celebrate this anniversary. The public are welcome to join the celebration in the Council Chamber in Brownsfield Road from 10am.
