Thatcham Town Radio is now officially registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) at Companies House. A CIC is a social enterprise which is a company that exists for the good of the community. As a CIC, a company can raise money through donations and trading activities but any profits have to be re-invested in the company and the money has to be used for the good of the community.

The new company will be managed by a board of directors comprising members with experience and skills in corporate governance, marketing, IT, engineering, broadcasting and journalism.

Thatcham Town Radio’s Executive Producer, Stephen West has been nominated as CEO while the other board members take up their new positions. Stephen West said that he’s delighted that Thatcham Town Radio is now working on a strong and stable commercial footing,

“Thatcham Town Radio has been a dream in the making for nearly two years and our formation as a registered company focusing on the community we serve is an important milestone which shows we are a serious player in the West Berkshire media industry and that we mean business. Being a social enterprise (CIC) gives us the ability to raise funds and make money which will be invested in the delivery of programmes and content as well providing new equipment and training for our growing team of dedicated volunteers.” said West.
