If you like the idea of being a Citizen Journalist and seeing your stories, pictures, video and audio recordings appearing on our website and even on-air then read on.
Thatcham Town Radio is a voluntary organisation which is run by volunteers and financed by donations and sponsorship. As a not-for-profit community organisation, we simply can’t be everywhere and cover every story we would like to. This is how our Citizen Journalists can get involved.
We’re always looking for your stories. They could be anything that the public / our audience might be interested in. Your contribution could be a picture, a story, a video, an audio recording or a combination of these. The story could be about anything that someone in Thatcham and West Berkshire might be interested in. It could be a pre-arranged event that you are attending or you could be out and about and come across an incident or event.
Here are some examples (but not complete list) of the kind of things that would be of interest:
- sporting events
- community events (fun days, fetes etc.,)
- music gigs
- fundraising and charity events
- extreme weather
- incidents, accidents and unexpected events (SAFETY FIRST: never put yourself at risk or get in the way of emergency responders)
- celebrations
- religious festivals
- commemorative events
- nature, wildlife and beauty
You are welcome to contact us before an event to talk it through; our news team will be happy to give you good advice and tips on how best to capture the event. If we are expecting your content to be sent in, we can also ensure someone is ready to receive it and publish it without delay. Sometimes it may not be possible to notify us in advance (if it is an incident for example), so you can just send it in and we’ll do the rest.
Please send your content to yournews@thatchamtownradio.uk If you are sending lots of photos or long videos, it is best to upload them to the cloud and send us the download link. This is not as complicated as it seems and you can do this easily and for free at www.wetransfer.com
