Lack of donations leaves Easter Egg hunt in jeopardy
A popular Easter Egg Hunt in Thatcham could be cancelled this year unless more people donate eggs and other gifts. The event has been running every Easter since the pandemic but in a shock post on Facebook, the organiser said that unless more donations of eggs and gifts are made, the event won’t go ahead this year.
Posting in the Joining Together Facebook group, the organiser Karen De Monte made a desperate plea: “I totally understand that times are very hard for a lot of people, and I do not wish to put pressure on anyone. I’m giving this one more shot.”
Karen is looking to get enough chocolate eggs, lollies, sweets, Easter baskets and children’s craft items so that the event can still go ahead.
Karen said in an interview broadcast on Thatcham Town Radio that a lot of kids would be disappointed if the event had to be cancelled and she’s hoping that more generous people will donate something for the egg hunt.
Karen is a volunteer with Newbury Cancer Care and she hopes that as well as providing a fun event for local children, parents will make a donation to help this local organisation continue its work supporting cancer patients.

Anyone able to donate an item to the Easter Egg Hunt can visit the Joining Together Facebook group or email Karen at this email address karendemonte45@gmail.com
