Ooh La La! A Taste of France Comes to Thatcham
Thatcham Town Council welcomed back the France at Home Market for a full day of “continental charm” today as the French Market was held on Thatcham Broadway.
The crowds enjoyed a mouthwatering selection of freshly baked baguettes and croissants, artisan cheeses, saucissons, and other délices Français – all lovingly prepared by the visiting French traders. There was a chance for everyone to indulge in the flavours, aromas, and joie de vivre of a true French market – right in the heart of Thatcham.
Olivier Rousssel from France at Home said he is always happy to bring the French taste to England. “Blue cheese and goat cheese has been very popular in Thatatcham. The weather has been good but as a trader, I can never have too many people coming to visit our stall.” he said.

In addition to the delicatessen products and cold food, there was a choice of hot food to take away, including prawns fried in a pan, potatoes and vegetables.

The French Market is organised by Thatcham Town Council and is a regular feature on the annual events calendar. Whether you’re a gourmet connoisseur or just love a good croissant, the French Market is a chance for everyone to sample the taste and atmosphere of a French market in the centre of Thatcham.
France at Home is an established team, having initiated the very first French Market to be held in the UK as long ago as 1994 and is a member of Franco-British chamber of commerce & industry. The traders mostly come from different ‘departments’ in Normandy, crossing the Channel regularly to offer a wide range of food products directly from France.
