Freedom of the Town Parade

The town of Thatcham proudly hosted a memorable Freedom of the Town Parade on Thursday 4 June, honouring the distinguished service of 67 Military Intelligence Company in a ceremonial event that brought together residents, veterans, and local dignitaries in celebration.
During the ceremony, troops were formally inspected by Councillor Mark Lillycrop, Mayor of Thatcham, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Anderson, and Lieutenant Colonel Robert Feeney.
Officers and soldiers of 67 Military Intelligence Company then exercised their newly conferred right to march through the streets of Thatcham in full ceremonial form — with colours flying, band playing, drums beating and bayonets fixed — marking a proud moment for both the unit and the town. Accompanied by the Band of the Coldstream Guards and representatives from the Royal British Legion.
The Freedom of the Town recognises not only the Company’s operational achievements but also its strong and valued relationship with the people of Thatcham. Over the past five years, 67 Military Intelligence Company, based at Denison Barracks, has built lasting ties with the community through a wide range of activities, including its continued participation in acts of remembrance.
Residents lined the streets to show their support, the occasion served both as a celebration of military excellence and a reaffirmation of the close bond between Thatcham and those who serve.
Thatcham Town Council extends its sincere thanks to Thames Valley Police, Thatcham and District Rotary Club, and the Thatcham Women’s Institute for their invaluable support in helping to deliver a safe, successful and memorable event.
This historic occasion stands as a lasting symbol of mutual respect, shared values, and continued partnership between 67 Military Intelligence Company and the community of Thatcham.
